Where each answer comes from
Sarah doesn't follow a fixed script. On every call she works from what you've saved in the dashboard. To change what she says, find the page that holds that fact and edit it there:
Services & pricing: the work you do, what it costs, and what she can book.
FAQ: your answers to the questions callers ask most.
Hours: when you're open and what she does when you're closed.
Profile: your business name, your name, the tone she uses, and your service area.
Voice: how she sounds and the name she gives.
Hours, voice and service area have their own guides: hours, voice and name and service area. This page covers the rest.
Services& pricing
Each service has a name, a price, and a switch called Sarah can book this. Callers who ask for something that isn't on the list get a message taken instead of a booking.
Pick one of three price types. With Flat price, Sarah quotes it as a flat rate (a $0 flat price is said as free). With Estimate, she gives your low and high as a typical range and says the firm number comes after an on-site look. The third type, No set price, only removes the price. Sarah still offers and books the service, she just doesn't give a number.
To stop Sarah booking a service, turn Sarah can book thisoff (on the list it's the switch on each service). Switched off, Sarah tells callers you don't offer it and doesn't book it. The optional Typical jobfield (for example "2 to 3 hours") and the Notefield are both passed to Sarah, so she can answer "how long will it take?" and mention anything you'd say yourself.
The Financing box on the same page saves the financing options you offer, and the job size they apply to, on your account. Sarah does not mention financing on calls.
FAQ
Each entry is a question and Sarah's answer (up to 800 characters). Write it the way you would say it on the phone: short, plain sentences a caller can follow by ear.
When a caller asks something none of your settings cover, Sarah takes a message so you can call back, and the question shows up in What Sarah learned for you to answer. Your answer is used from the next call.
Files on the Documents page are not read during calls. They feed the suggestions in What Sarah learned, so a price sheet you upload turns into FAQ or service changes you approve.
Profile: names and tone
Open Profile and click Edit on your business details:
Display nameis the business name Sarah gives when a caller asks who they've reached.
Owner nameis how she refers to you, as in "I've passed your message to Dave."
Brand voiceflavors her word choice. The field takes 500 characters, but only about the first 240 reach Sarah, so keep it to a sentence or two: "Friendly, direct, no jargon. We're a family business." It sets tone only. It can't change her rules, prices or answers.
Average job value is never said on calls. It only drives the Recovered revenue estimate on your Overview.
Dealbreakers and the greeting
Dealbreakers are the jobs you turn down, set in setup step 2 ("The judgment calls only you know"). When a caller hits one, Sarah politely declines and offers to take a message instead of booking. There is no settings page for them after setup. To change your list, email hello@tryansa.ai. What Sarah learned can also suggest a new rule from your calls, which you approve or turn down there.
The opening greeting (by default "Thanks for calling [your business], this is Sarah, the AI assistant.") is set by the Ansa team. Email us to change the wording. The name in it comes from the Voice page, and you can change that yourself.
When changes take effect
Saved changes apply on Sarah's next call. There is no publish button and no waiting period. To hear a change before a customer does, run a test call and ask the question yourself.
Troubleshooting
I added an FAQ but Sarah still doesn't use it.
Check whether it falls outside the first 30 answered FAQs. If the page shows that some are over the limit, remove or merge older entries. Also check that the entry has an answer: a question without one isn't used.
Sarah quoted a price I didn't set.
Open the service in Services & pricing and check its price type and numbers. If the service isn't listed, add it. If it still happens, follow the wrong-answer steps.
Sarah says she can't book something I do.
Check that the service is on the list and that Sarah can book thisis on. If it is, the work may match one of your dealbreakers. Email us and we'll check.
I can't save anything.
Closed accounts are read-only. You can still view and export your data, but changes can't be saved.
