What a test call is
A test call is a conversation with Sarah through your computer's microphone and speakers. It doesn't ring your phone, and you don't dial anything. It reaches the same receptionist your customers will reach, with everything you've set up: your services, prices, hours, service area, FAQ and voice.
The call is marked as a test. Sarah behaves exactly as she would on a real call, including booking, but nothing is sent to your calendar or CRM and no real customer is involved. You can make one before you go live, as soon as your Ansa number is ready.
Making one
Open the test call page
Press Test call at the top of your Overview, or Try her now on the activation step during setup. The page is called Try your assistant. It works even while the rest of the dashboard is locked for setup.
Put on headphones
Without them, Sarah can hear herself through your speakers and get confused.
Press Start the call
Your browser asks for the microphone. Allow it. Sarah answers first, then you talk to her like a customer would. Her words and yours appear on screen as you go.
Press End callwhen you're done
Or let Sarah wrap up and hang up herself, as she would with a caller.
What to try
The Things to trypanel suggests lines built from your own setup, like asking to book one of your services this week, asking what time you close today, asking whether you cover a town in your service area, asking a price, or saying it's an emergency.
Also try the calls you actually get: a customer who rambles, someone asking for a job you don't do, someone outside your area, someone who wants to move an existing appointment. Listen for whether she gets your prices, hours and policies right, and whether she sounds like your business.
After the call
A What happened card shows how the call ended and whether a booking was made. A booking on a test call reads: A booking was created. It is a test, so nothing was sent to your CRM. Press See the full callto open the call with its transcript. Test calls don't appear in your Calls list or your Overview numbers.
If an answer was wrong, that's a setting to fix, not a fluke. Change it on Services & pricing, FAQ, Hours or Profile, then press Call again. Saved changes apply on Sarah's next call. If she's still wrong after you fix the setting, email hello@tryansa.ai.
Once you're live and forwarding is on, a call to your business number from another phone is a real call, not a test. If Sarah books it, the booking goes into your calendar or CRM, so delete it there afterward.
Troubleshooting
The page says my number is still being provisioned.
A test call runs on your own line, so it waits until your Ansa number is ready. The page works as soon as the number lands.
My browser is blocking the microphone.
Allow microphone access for this site, then press Start again. In Chrome, the setting is the icon at the right of the address bar.
It says I've made enough test calls for now.
You can make 5 test calls an hour. Wait a little and try again.
It says a call is already running.
Only one test call can run at a time. Wait for the other one to finish, then try again.
The call dropped partway through.
Check your internet connection and press Start again. A failed test call doesn't affect your real calls.
