Changing the voice or name
Open Voice
It's in the sidebar under What Sarah knows. The page is headed "How Sarah sounds."
Pick a voice
The current voice is selected. Click another to choose it. Each one has a short description and a play button that plays a short sample in that voice.
Set the name in What callers call her
Type the name you want callers to hear, up to 60 characters, or leave it blank to use the voice's default name.
Click Save voice
You'll see a confirmation that your receptionist answers like this on the next call. There's no publish step and nothing else to switch on.
The ten voices
The picker groups voices under English and Portuguese (Brazil), and each voice shows its accent and whether it's female or male. Two are marked Recommended, and Warm & steady is the default for new accounts.
English, North American:Warm & steady (female, Recommended), Steady & measured (male, Recommended), Bright & clear (female), Firm & direct (female), Low & informative (male), Upbeat & bright (male).
English, Southern U.S.:Mellow & unhurried (female), Easy & grounded (male).
Portuguese (Brazil):Lively & melodic (female), Lively & open (male).
Changing the voice changes only how Sarah sounds. Her answers, prices, hours and booking rules stay exactly as you set them on the other pages.
How the name works
Callers hear the name in the greeting, for example: "Thanks for calling [your business], this is Sarah, the AI assistant." If you leave the name blank, female voices go by Sarah and male voices go by Jake. If you type a name, it stays the same whichever voice you pick, so pick one that suits the voice.
Your dashboard keeps calling the receptionist Sarah no matter what name you choose. Pages like What Sarah learned keep their labels. Only callers hear the new name.
Hearing the new voice
Press the play button next to any voice to hear a short sample before you choose. To hear it on a real call, with your own business name and greeting, save it and then either run a test call from your browser or call your business line from a different phone and let it ring through to Sarah. If you don't like it, pick another and save again. You can switch as often as you want.
A call already in progress keeps the voice it started with. The next call uses the new one.
Troubleshooting
I saved a new voice but my test still sounds like the old one.
Hang up and start a fresh call. Changes apply from the next call, not to one that was already running when you saved.
Callers hear Jake but I want Sarah.
The name field is blank and you picked a male voice, so the default name is Jake. Type Sarah (or any name) in What callers call her and save.
The save button gave an error.
Try again. If your account is closed, settings are read-only and can't be saved. If it keeps failing on an active account, email hello@tryansa.ai.
