Why registration is needed
US carriers require every business to register before it sends texts to customers. This is called 10DLC registration. Without it, carriers block or filter the messages. Ansa files the registration with the carriers on your behalf. You enter your business details once in the dashboard.
Until your registration is approved, Sarah sends your callers no texts. She confirms appointments out loud, on the call. Nothing else about her work changes.
What your callers receive
Once texting is on, Sarah asks before she books, moves or cancels an appointment: "Can I text you a confirmation?" She only texts callers who clearly say yes. A caller who says no is never texted.
The texts are appointment confirmations, plus confirmations when an appointment is rescheduled or cancelled. Typically 1 to 3 messages per appointment. No marketing. They are sent by Ansa on behalf of your business, and the card shows the number they come from once texting is on.
Any caller can reply STOP to stop receiving texts. If a caller texts the number, they get a one-time reply explaining the line takes calls only.
Registering your business
Only the account owner can submit the registration. You can do it in setup (the optional Text messages question in step 1) or any time later.
Open Customer texting
Go to Profile and scroll to the Customer texting card.
Pick your business type
Choose I have an EIN or I'm a sole proprietor (no EIN).
Enter your details
With an EIN: your Legal business name exactly as it appears on your IRS EIN letter, and your 9-digit EIN (XX-XXXXXXX). Your EIN is used only for this registration.
As a sole proprietor: the business name you trade under, your first and last name, and your US mobile number.
Submit
Click Submit registration. Sole proprietors then get a one-time PIN by text: type it into the card and click Verify PIN. If it doesn't arrive, use Resend PIN (wait a minute between requests).
What each status means
The card shows one of these:
Not set up yet: nothing submitted. Sarah confirms on the call.
Registration received: Ansa has your details and is filing them.
Filed, waiting on the carriers: the carriers are reviewing it. Approval usually takes a few business days.
One last step: enter your PIN: sole proprietors only. Enter the PIN that was texted to you.
Texting is on: Sarah can text confirmations to callers who agree.
Carriers couldn't verify your business: fix the details and resubmit (see below).
We're sorting something out: something needs Ansa's attention. Nothing for you to do.
You get a Texting approved alert when it goes through, and a Texting registration needs attention alert if you need to act. Both open the Customer texting card.
Your own alerts are separate
Texts to you about calls and bookings come from Ansa's own alerts number and do not depend on this registration. You can get text alerts today, before your registration is approved. See Which alerts you get, and where.
Troubleshooting
Carriers couldn't verify your business.
This usually means the legal name or EIN doesn't match your IRS EIN letter. Check both, character for character, then click Fix and resubmit. The card may show the reason under the status.
It says it needs my full business address.
Add street, city, state and ZIP under Profile → Main address, then resubmit.
I can't edit the form.
You can still edit and resubmit while the card says Registration received. Once it is filed with the carriers, the form is locked so a second filing doesn't start. It opens again only if the carriers couldn't verify your business. The form only shows for the account owner.
Texting is on but a caller got no text.
Sarah only texts callers who said yes to "Can I text you a confirmation?" A caller who replied STOP earlier gets no texts. If neither applies, email hello@tryansa.ai with the time of the call.
